    STEUBEN - Robert E. Crabtree, 69, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Franklin, to Harvey and Anne (Martin) Crabtree. Robert retired after 37 years of service as a truck driver for L. Ray Packing Co. after which he operated Rusty Anchor restaurant and later became the owner of Country Charm Restaurant, Steuben. He was a past master of Pleiades Masonic Lodge, Milbridge and joined Anah Shrine in 1974 where he was a very active member and started Anah Wheelers. Robert loved carpentry and also enjoyed sports, at one time serving as a Little League coach. He is survived by his son, Doug Crabtree and his wife, Sue, of Franklin; daughter, Melanie Dow and husband, Gary, of Hancock; three sisters, Amelia Salsbury of Steuben, Ruth Pung of Franklin, and Barbara Ann McQuarrie and husband, Gene, of Holden; and five grandchildren, Benjamin Dow, Gary Dow II, Rachel Anne Dow, Robert J. Crabtree and Harold Crabtree. He was!
    predeceased by his companion of 28 years, Joan Potter; brothers, John, Walter, Blaine, Leo and Fletcher; and sister, Barbara Sealeander. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7. Interment will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery.
